Seth Meyers Takes a Hilarious Jab at Karoline Leavitt's Escalator Grievances
In a recent episode of "Late Night," host Seth Meyers delivered a sharp comedic critique of White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who had raised concerns about an incident involving President Donald Trump and an escalator at the United Nations. This incident, which Leavitt described as a "snafu," became the subject of Meyers' witty commentary on Wednesday night.
During her appearance on Fox News, Leavitt referenced a report from the Sunday Times, alleging that certain "globalist staffers" at the U.N. had intentionally sabotaged the president's arrival as he prepared to address the General Assembly.
Meyers responded with a playful quip, saying, "You know, I've heard a lot about these globalists over the years, but I had no idea their modus operandi was to pull off soft pranks!" He continued, humorously exaggerating the situation: "Teleprompter malfunction, escalator failure. Next thing you know, someone’s tying his shoelaces together! Are these people a secretive organization or just Kevin from 'Home Alone'?"
On the same day, Trump took to social media to highlight the escalator incident as one of three "very sinister events" that transpired during his time at the U.N. He expressed relief that he and First Lady Melania Trump managed to avoid what he described as a potential "disaster" by not tumbling down the escalator's sharp steel steps. In a dramatic twist, he even called for the arrest of those responsible for the escalator's malfunction.
A spokesperson for the U.N. later clarified that the stoppage of the escalator was likely due to an incident involving Trump's videographer, who may have inadvertently activated a safety feature while attempting to film the president's arrival by walking backward up the escalator.
Meyers didn’t stop there; he also poked fun at Trump’s grandiose claims about resolving international conflicts, quipping, "Oh, look at that — they solved the conflict in one day! How about that?" This was a nod to Trump’s assertion that he could end the ongoing war in Ukraine in just a single day.
Meyers' humorous take on the situation not only entertained viewers but also highlighted the absurdity of the claims being made. It raises an interesting question: Are we witnessing genuine political discourse, or is it all just a series of comedic misadventures? What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments!
